His work is on display in museums, galleries, and at art fairs both in the Netherlands and abroad. His work is layered, and you can sense the calm and patience with which he creates it. He creates movement and depth and plays with light and shadow in a unique way. In addition to traditional painting techniques, he hand-prints woodcuts using oil paint on linen. In this way, he infuses his work with movement and texture.

Another technique he developed himself involves using homemade tools to apply lines of paint in patterns onto the canvas. This creates a texture that makes it seem as if he is weaving with paint. The combination of these techniques, with which he continues to experiment, gives his paintings a three-dimensional quality. The paint interacts with the light, creating fascinating shadows and a sense of depth.

He works in series. This allows him to switch canvases frequently, let the paintings dry and mature in between, compare them with one another, refine them, and repeat their strong points. In this way, over the course of several months, a series evolves until the ultimate result is achieved. After such a period, the entire process begins anew with a new challenge, new canvases, a new plan, and ultimately a new series of beautiful works of art.

Martin is an artist who is passionate and constantly creating. He seizes the freedom he needs to do what he feels. He explores space and creates a sense of tension within those spaces. His work encourages and affirms the importance of following your own path and believing in yourself. You are drawn into his work, and he takes you into his universe. He challenges everyone to open themselves up to his world.
