Annabelle van der Pluijm creates contemporary, absurdist paintings that blend humor and meaning. She draws inspiration from the world around her.
Different cultures, human habits. In her work, nothing is set in stone.
An image can be funny, yet at the same time unsettling. A situation may seem familiar, yet make no sense at all. Her work doesn’t have to have a clear meaning.
Annabelle finds it particularly interesting when different people interpret the same painting in different ways.
